Getting Support for HiPPIE

Thanks for choosing HiPPIE.  However, I'll be the first to admit that sometimes things aren't clear.   And sometimes code breaks.  And sometimes you need more than what the code can do.  And this is where you look for when those things happen.  Below you can find out how to submit bugs, ask for features, get support from developers and other users, and so forth.

Reporting Bugs

We definitely welcome bug reports to the HiPPIE project.  Things won't always work quite right, but we're committed to making them do so.  So, if you find a problem with HiPPIE, from cosmetic to functionally incorrect, please report them.  To do so, go to the SourceForge bug tracker for HiPPIE and look to see if your bug has been found, and then report it.

Requesting Features

There will always be new protocols coming out, and there will definitely be more ways that we can enhance HiPPIE to make it work better.  If you think you've come up with one of those, let us know!  Submit a feature request, and we'll see what we can do about getting support done.  However, when it comes to protocol support, whatever information you can demonstrate when requesting is helpful, from what applications use that protocol to anything else about the protocol itself.  Packet captures are always welcome.  Again, submit those kinds of things at our SourceForge feature request forms, and we'll do what we can!

Getting Answers When You're Stumped

There are also times when you just need an answer, or you just want to run an idea past someone.  The best way to get these answers it to get onto the HiPPIE-Users mailing list.  You can look at the HiPPIE mailing lists on our mailing lists page, and sign up through SourceForge.  Check out the list archives to see if anyone else has run into what you're doing, and then feel free to post your question or comment on out to the group.  We'll see you on the list!

Another option for getting support is to join the IRC channel for HiPPIE on Freenode, #hippie.  If you're on IRC, and especially on Freenode, stop on by, and we'll be glad to chat about the project with you.
